Mayor Chan envisions Aparri West to be an industrial zone

APARRI, Cagayan, Jan. 30 (PIA) - - As the Local Government Unit here lays its development programs to gear up the town's economic gains,  local officials mull over the establishment of a new industrial zone at the western side.

Mayor Bryan Dale G. Chan said the commercial, industrial, trade and government activities are centered at the eastern part of the municipality because of its geographical setting which is divided by the Cagayan River.

Though the western part is not left behind, Chan said it needs to be developed further because of its potential for industrial activities.

"We also have plan to build a seaport at the said area to spur economic activities there," Chan said.

He also said they will establish a birthing center in the western part which will also function as a health station for emergency cases considering that the hospitals are located in the eastern area particularly in the town proper.

At present, residents in the western side of the town need to cross the river via motorized boats to reach the eastern side.

On the other hand, the town’s officials also said they continue to give support to the communities in Fuga, the island barangay of the said town.

Vice Mayor Rommel Alameda said they have been visiting the island to deliver goods and other needs of the islanders.

However, he admitted that they have limited move into the island as it is privately owned, but he assured that they will assist the people who are living in the island.  (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
