BAGUIO CITY, Feb. 18 (PIA) - - The Department of Social Welfare and Development - Field Office Cordillera (DSWD - FOCAR) is currently conducting payout of the first semester 2021 social pension of indigent senior citizens in the region.
DSWD FOCAR is releasing the six months pension of 96,539 the senior citizens with total allocation of P579.23 million. Each beneficiary will receive P3, 000 as social pension for January to June 2021 at P500 monthly.
Abra has the most number of pensioners with 22,456; followed by Benguet with 20,605; Ifugao with 15,155; Kalinga with 15,101; Apayao with 10,609; Mountain Province with 9,834 and Baguio City with 2,799.
The target is to finish the payout by March, so the main challenge is to bring the payout to the areas that are on granular lockdown due to the Coronavirus disease, DSWD FOCAR Assistant Regional Director for Operations Amelyn Cabrera said in a Kapihan media forum here.
DSWD FOCAR Regional Director Leo Quintilla assured that along with the continuing delivery of the department’s regular programs and services, they will continue with their intensified effort to support the local government units and the COVID - affected population especially the marginalized, the senior citizens and the special sector.
Quintilla assured that they are also after the health and safety of their personnel who are frontliners, and they are now working on the inventory of their priority list for the COVID – 19 vaccination.
He added that they are getting involved in the information dissemination about the vaccination. When armed with the right information about the COVID – 19 vaccination program, DSWD FOCAR personnel can also share this information to the communities they work on, he said. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
