MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL, Feb. 2 (PIA)—The Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-10 in partnership with the local government units (LGUs) and national line agencies organized the first virtual meeting for Misamis Occidental League Information Officers (MOLIO).

The meeting aims to organize the government information officers in the province to help disseminate information in fighting misinformation, disinformation and fake news about the COVID-vaccination, ELCAC and government programs and services.

During the virtual meeting, PIA-10 Regional Director Frank Gumapon cited the importance of bridging government services to the general public through developmental communication, and the government's initiatives in ending local communist armed conflict, the mitigation of the spread of COVID-19, and major role of information officers in the campaigns.

“Government Information Officers played an important role in this time of pandemic,” Gumapon said as he urged info officers to support and help the advocacy on the national vaccination program.

For her part, PIA-Misamis Occidental Manager Jasper Marie Rucat presented the role of information officers.

“Information officers are the voice of the organization and an officer needs to be aware that even personal opinions will reflect on the organization,” she said.

Rucat also said info officers have managerial roles in information campaigns, especially in orchestrating and monitoring information dissemination drives of an organization.

Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental (PGMO) Officer and MOLIO President Moriele Canete said, “May we stay true and faithful to our service to the people of our province and never forget the importance of our roles in this time of uncertainties.
