CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, March 8 (PIA)--“The next [country's] president will come from your generation,” Communications Secretary Martin Andanar told the SK presidents in a recent meeting here.
Andanar met with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) prior to the Joint NTF-ELCAC and RTF-ELCAC-10 meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte, Friday, March 5, and discussed with them their roles in ending local communist armed conflict and combatting COVID-19 pandemic.
The country, he said, can only run if “we can prepare the youth.”
The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) also introduced the “Youth for Truth” program to the youth leaders which covers dismissing disinformation.
Social media, PCOO said, is a tool that can empower advocacies and that should be used responsibly.
Moreover, Andanar emphasized that he is serious about his advocacy for the youth, as he acknowledged the potential of the youth today to become tomorrow's leaders of the nation.
“The important role of the youth now is the leadership they take in their communities, when they take the challenge and rise to the occasion, not just ELCAC but to combat threat of COVID-19,” Andanar said adding, “let’s continue to engage, talk.”
He also encouraged the youth to have political, social and economic activism to be aware of what is happening around the nation and the world. (JMORucat/PIA10)
