Ifugao starts observance of Fire Prevention Month

BANAUE, Ifugao, March 4 (PIA) - - The  Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)  conducted two activities on Monday  to kick-off the observance of  Fire Prevention Month this March  with the theme “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa.”

A simultaneous blowing of horns was done  in all municipal fire stations,  followed by a firetruck relay along the national highway from Lamut to Banaue participated by Lamut, Lagawe, Hungduan and Mayoyao including a delegate from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.

Other fire stations conducted their own motorcade in their respective areas tohether with other agencies and members of the Community Fire Auxiliary Groups.

Acting Provincial Fire Director Chief Inspector Francisco Copes explained that the firetruck relay aims to create awareness on the importance of fire prevention and the role of fire officers. 

Meanwhile, the BFP-Ifugao reported that a total of 21 fire incidents were recorded in 2020 compared to the 36 fire incidents in 2019. It also disclosed an increased collection of Fire Code Fee from P1, 197,405.00 in 2019 to P3, 276,866.35 for 2020. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
