4th batch of COVAX for NorMin arrives

LAGUINDINGAN, Misamis Oriental, April 15 (PIA)--The fourth batch of COVID-19 vaccines for Northen Mindanao arrived at Laguindingan Airport via Philippine Airlines Flight PR No. 2519.

The 27,600 doses of CoronaVac (Sinovac) vaccines amounting to P 18,856,320.00 were received by the Department of Health  (DOH)-10 personnel. Said vaccines are said to be part of the purchased vaccines by the national government for the continuation of the vaccination rollout.

“We received 27,600 doses, 23 boxes at 1,200. This is the second dose of the second tranche of Sinovac Vaccines which will be distributed all throughout the region,” said Dr. Jose R. Llacuna Jr., DOH-10 regional director.

The vaccines are to be given to the health care workers in all the health care facilities including Rural Healthcare Unit and Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities (TTMF) in the region.

Llacuna said the completion of the vaccination of the priority A1 group would depend on the availability of the vaccines.

Northen Mindnao is one of the top five in the vaccine utilization in the country.

“I would like to emphasize that the distribution is not equal; it is equitable distribution to those regions which need it the most. We have the right to ask for more since our utilization is 100 percent. That is why the support we are receiving is good and we will be requesting again for vaccines. We are confident that our request will be granted because of our good performance,” Llacuna pointed out.

The DOH has assured the public that the government will do everything to provide safe vaccines. (JAKA/PIA10)
