COVID vaccination  in CAR  reaches 37,446 eligible population

BAGUIO CITY, April 27(PIA) - - The Coronavirus vaccination rollout  in the Cordillera Region has reached 37,446 eligible population from the health workers, senior citizens and adults with co-morbidities priority groups.

As of April 25 data of the Department of Health’s Regional Vaccination Operations Center, there are already 33,773 eligible population from Priority A1 (health workers in essential health care services); 2,033 Priority A2 (senior citizens), and 1,660 Priority A3 (adults with co – morbidity) that were vaccinated with their first dose of COVID – 19 vaccines.

Of the individuals vaccinated, 27,153 received the Sinovac vaccine while 10,313 with   AstraZeneca vaccine. With all of the allocated AstraZeneca vaccine already utilized, only the remaining Sinovac vaccines are being used for the simultaneous inoculation of eligible population from priorities A1 and A2.

DOH – CAR Regional Director and RVOC chairperson Dr. Ruby Constantino, in an advisory, directed all provincial/city VOCs to expedite the utilization of the remaining Sinovac vaccines that are already allocated to them and to have an informed decision if they need to do simultaneous vaccination of priority groups A1, A2 and A3.

Constantino reiterated the importance of maximizing and the fast utilization of the allocated vaccines by taking into consideration the deferrals and refusals, or if no more takers from the Priority A1, then they should proceed to the eligible and volunteer population from Priority A2 then Priority A3. 

RVOC April 25 data showed  there are 34,500 doses of Sinovac allocated to the different provinces and Baguio City  27,153 already used  and with 44 wastages for  utilization rate  of  78.83 percent.

For Sinovac vaccination utilization rate, Abra is top at 90.99 percent, Apayao- 86.19%, Benguet-88.33%, Kalinga- 76.26% and Mountain Province-74%. Ifugao is still below 50% utilization

For Baguio, Sinovac utilization rate is at 84.66 % though it has already vaccinated all its target A1 population including some newly – hired health worker. Being vaccinated in the city are Priority A2 or senior citizens.

Meantime, 8,120 priority A1 are already inoculated of their second dose of Sinovac vaccine as of April 25. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
