DOH-CAR reminds vaccination units to complete Priority A1 target list

BAGUIO CITY, April 13 (PIA) - - The Department of Health Center for Health and Development – Cordillera (DOH – CAR) reiterates anew to vaccination implementing units in the region to complete first their Priority A1 target of the health workers in essential health care services before moving  to the next priority group.

 DOH – CAR Regional Director Dr. Ruby Constantino  emphasized this  following  the Food and Drug Administration’s recent approval on the use of Sinovac vaccine to Priority A2 or the senior citizens group.

There is no vaccine allocation yet for the Priority A2 group and we need also to ensure that excess vaccines are due to deferrals and refusals from Priority A1, Constantino stressed reminding  the vaccination implementation teams  that they may only use excess Sinovac vaccine to the senior citizens group after completing  first the inoculation  of the eligible population in their Priority A1 targets.  

In the DOH – CAR masterlist  as provided by the city and provincial health officers in Cordillera, there are a total of 40,546 target population for Priority A1 in the region and a total of 40,900 vaccine doses (30,900 Sinovac and 10,000 AstraZeneca)  is allocated for their COVID – 19 vaccination.

Based on April 11 data of the Regional Vaccination Operations Center, there are  27,723 or 68.37 percent of the 40,546 target population that are already vaccinated with Baguio City having the  highest number of Priority A1 vaccination accomplishment at 93.27 %.

For the provinces, Abra is at 65.12% coverage, Apayao at 51.78%, Benguet at 67.83% , Ifugao at 34.09%, Kalinga at 65.12%  and Mountain Province is at 58.11%  of  their target Priority A1.

Vaccination in the Cordillera provinces has  slowed down  as members of the vaccination teams have also been busy on contact tracing and COVID – 19 response activities due to the recent surge in cases.

Meanwhile, based on the April 11 Cordillera RVOC  data,    6,075 of   the Priority A1 eligible population  have already received their second dose of the Sinovac vaccine  to complete their two-dose COVID-19 vaccination for added protection, (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
