Isabela City, Basilan April 28 (PIA) – With the recent spate of COVID-19 cases that broke fear and anxiety to Isabela City anew, the local government of Isabela City de Basilan, authorities in the security sector and new established non-civic organization raised community health and safety standards to police members of the community to be able to protect themselves against the threat brought by the COVID19 pandemic.
The simultaneous conduct of strong police presence in city streets and other vital installations were led by local authorities to include the City Government chaired by Hon. City Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin Hataman through City Administrator Joel Zanoria, City Disaster Risks Reduction and Management Office, authorities from the Isabela City Police Station under the direct supervision of PLt. Col. Homer Dumalag and Isabela City BIONet, a group of volunteers composed of Barangay Information Officers in Isabela City.
All groups guarded public to strictly follow health and safety guidelines such as proper hygiene, proper wearing of face masks, observance of social distancing and other preventive measures against the Novel Corona Virus Disease.
"Kailangan po nating magsuot ng facemasks. Sumunod po tayo sa protocol ng gobyerno dahil tumataas na po ang cases natin sa Isabela City, " appealed by Isabela City BIONet members to public vendors as they made rounds around public market on Monday.
As of April 26, 2021, Isabela City has recorded a total of 53 active cases and 8 deaths with a drastic increase of 10 cases in just a span of two days.
Health authorities meanwhile urged public to strictly enforce necessary health and safety protocols while government pulls off vaccine rites to eligible population. Isabela City has yet to resume inoculation procedure for the rest of the eligible individuals included in the priority group A-2.
Furthermore, Isabela City strengthened its campaign for COVID-19 vaccine awareness through distribution of ResBakuna Flyers to public areas in Isabela City. (EDT/NDR/PIA9-BASILAN/with reports from Ms. Raiza Dapilin)
