Isabeleño health workers to receive 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccines this week

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, April 6 (PIA) –  Health workers in Isabela province who were first inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines from Sinovac will receive their second dose this week, an official of the Isabela Provincial Health Office said.

Dr. Nelson Paguirigan, provincial health officer, said the second dose vaccines for health workers are already available and will be administered to health workers to complete their vaccines against COVID-19.

The emergency use authorization document of Sinovac states that the 2nd dose will be given 4 weeks after the first one.

Last month, the provincial government through the Provincial Health Office has conducted the vaccination roll out using the Sinovac vaccines from the national government to its health workers in the province.

Once the vaccination of the second dose is completed for health workers, Paguirigan said that senior citizens in the province are next in line and the vaccination will start once the vaccines allotted for them are available.

Meanwhile, Paguirigan said the COVID-19 cases in the province continue to rise as recorded by their office.

Paguirigan said that as of April 5, 2021, there are 8,200 recorded COVID - 19 cases since the the start of the pandemic. Of the number, 6,671 have already recovered and 1, 370 are active cases and 159 COVID-19 deaths.

The provincial health officer said that the municipality of Roxas has recorded the highest COVID-19 active cases with 229 followed by Santiago City with 161 active cases.

Paguirigan added that the province-run hospitals are already full of patients with the surge of COVID-19 cases in the province. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
