CALOOCAN CITY, April 3 (PIA) -- The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) of the Philippine National Police has shared food packs to poor families living in Taguig City to lessen the impacts of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) raised over Metro Manila.

"Due to the current health crisis and the implementation of enhanced community quarantine to NCR Bubble Plus, a lot of less fortunate families struggled to put food in their tables," the NCRPO said on a Facebook post recently.

It said NCRPO chief PMGen. Vicente D. Danao Jr., through the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, extended "generous act of kindness by distributing food packs at Barangay Bagumbayan, Taguig City" on April 1, 2021.

"The RMFB - NCRPO under the supervision of Force Commander PCol. Lambert A. Suerte, distributed 200 food packs," it added.

Recipients comprised of dislodged street vendors, public utility vehicle drivers and construction workers who were forced stoppage of work due to escalation of quarantine restrictions.

"In observance of government guidelines regarding prohibited mass gatherings and constant practice of social distancing, the food packs were delivered house to house to prevent the residents to huddle in mass so no one will come out on the streets to prevent further spread of COVID-19 virus," it further said.

PMGen. Danao, for his part, also acknowledged the continuous support recieved from benevolent benefactors in extending their helping hands to the individuals and families who are significantly affected in the reversion of much stricter quarantine status in Metro Manila.

“Isa lang ang gusto kong sabihin sa inyo, salamat. Maraming salamat at hindi ninyo pinapabayaan ang ating mga kababayan na labis na naaapektuhan ng pandemyang ito. Sama-sama tayo sa paglilingkod ng TAMA: TApat, may tapang at MAlasakit sa mamamayan. Sa ating pagtutulungan malalampasan at makakaahon din tayo sa pinag-dadaanan nating ito.” PMGen. Danao said.
