Northern Tagalog Hospital breaks ground

CALAMBA CITY, Apr. 27 (PIA) - Construction of the Northern Tagalog Regional Hospital (NTRH) will finally begin after Department of Health (DOH) - CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Assistant Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco and Rizal Second District Rep. Juan Fidel Felipe Nograles led the groundbreaking last April 23. 

Located in Montalban town, NTRH is a two-storey Level 2 hospital with 200-bed capacity and will be constructed in a 10,000 square meter lot purchased by the municipal government. 

“Hindi na pupunta pa ng Metro Manila ang ating mga kababayan upang makapagpagamot at makakuha ng mas magandang serbisyong medikal dahil ang ospital na ito ang siyang tutugon sa lahat ng kanilang pangangailangan,” Sydiongco said, emphasizing the importance of the health facility in improving the healthcare service in the province, 

[Our fellowmen no longer need to go to Metro Manila to get better medical services because this hospital will provide their needs.]

Meanwhile, Rep. Nograles expressed his confidence that the national hospital to be managed by the DOH-CALABARZON will improve the healthcare system in their province especially during the pandemic. 

“Ito ay isang national hospital na pangangasiwaan ng DOH-CALABARZON kaya makakasiguro tayong mas mataas ang kalidad ng serbisyong medikal at teknolohiya na maibibigay nito. Magkakaroon din ito ng “Infectious Disease Laboratory,” na mangangasiwa sa lahat ng mga kaso kaugnay ng COVID at iba pang nakakahawang sakit,” he added.

[This is a national hospital which will be managed by the DOH-CALABARZON, so we can be sure that it will provide quality medical services and technology. It will also have an Infectious Disease Laboratory which will oversee all cases related to COVID and other infectious diseases.]

With an initial allocation of P85 million for the first phase of the project, which consists of the construction of the  Out Patient Department, Emergency Room, and the main lobby will start in August 2021 and is expected to be completed in August 2022. 

The signing of the development plan and unveiling of the perspective plan were witnessed by DOH Chief of Staff, Used. Leopoldo J. Vega, DOH Rizal Provincial Team Leader Gerardo G. Mejorada, One Pacman Partylist Rep. Michael Romero, as well as officials from the provincial and municipal government. 

In an official statement, the DOH-CALABARZON said the Northern Tagalog Regional Hospital will be the first DOH hospital in the province, as well as the fifth apex hospital in the region established under the tenure of Director Eduardo Janairo. (PB/DOH 4-A)
