Taguig opens 3rd vaccination site as priority groups continue receiving COVID-19 vaccines

PARAÑAQUE CITY, April 4 (PIA) -- To make vaccination more accessible and safer for residents, the Taguig City Government has opened its third vaccination site and the first community vaccination center at the RP Cruz Elementary School in Brgy. New Lower Bicutan.

The site complements the existing 2 Mega Vaccination Hubs at the Lakeshore area in Brgy. Lower Bicutan and at the Vista Mall Parking Building in Brgy. Calzada.

Almost 1,000 senior citizens and persons with comorbidities were vaccinated in the three vaccine sites on Thursday including more than 260 individuals at the RP Cruz Community Vaccine Center. The site, along with the 2 Mega Vaccination Hubs, remained open from Maundy Thursday to Black Saturday to fasttrack the vaccination rollout in the city.

Taguig City is eyeing to open more vaccination centers with hundreds of trained vaccination teams. All vaccination sites are chosen to make them accessible, convenient, and safe for the residents.

“Our target here is not only speed but safety, efficiency and accessibility. Our mega vaccine hubs and our community vaccine centers will help us hit our objectives. This will open the opportunity for more citizens to get vaccinated,” said Mayor Lino Cayetano said during Thursday's event.

The local government is already wrapping up the vaccination of its healthcare workers and has started inoculating senior citizens and those with comorbidities on Wednesday.

The City commits to have vaccines available to all its residents. While the city has been receiving its allocation of Astra Zeneca and Sinovac vaccines from the national government, it is also preparing a vaccine portfolio that would include Novavax, IP Biotech, AstraZeneca, and Moderna.

Aside from prioritizing vaccination of its residents, Taguig City has also started distributing food packs and hygiene kits to all Taguigeno families on the first day of the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Metro Manila this week.

Taguig City’s stay-at-home food packs are good for three to four days for a family of five. These contain rice, canned goods, coffee, and energy drink. The hygiene kits consist of face masks, face shields, alcohol, and soap to ensure recipients are protected from the COVID-19 virus. (PIA NCR)
