2 weather systems to bring rains over northern Luzon

MANILA -- Northern Luzon will experience rains due to the shear line and the northeast monsoon, the weather bureau said Friday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over Batanes and Cagayan, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will be experienced over Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

The rest of Luzon will experience isolated rains and localized thunderstorms.

"Be alert on possible flooding, especially during severe thunderstorms," PAGASA weather forecaster Grace CastaƱeda said.

The Visayas and Mindanao, she said, will also have localized thunderstorms.

Flooding is possible during severe thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over northern Luzon.

Gale warning is in effect over the seaboards of northern Luzon (Batanes, Ilocos Norte, and Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands).

Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
