Rain showers to dampen Luzon due to northeast monsoon

MANILA – Rains will dampen most areas across Luzon Tuesday due to the northeast monsoon or amihan, the weather bureau said on Tuesday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said rain showers are expected over the Bicol Region and the provinces of Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar.

Flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to heavy rains.

Light rains will be experienced over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have isolated light rains.

PAGASA forecaster Grace Castañeda said there is no weather disturbance that may affect the country.

"The Visayas and Mindanao can expect chances of rains and thunderstorms," she said, adding that partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail in these areas.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas.

Strong to gale-force winds are forecast over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, western seaboard of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Bicol Region.

Fishing boats and other small sea vessels are advised not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Over Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
