Easterlies, 'amihan' to bring rains over parts of PH

MANILA – The easterlies and the northeast monsoon or "amihan" will bring rains over parts of the country, the weather bureau said Friday.

Caraga and Davao Region will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies, while rains caused by the northeast monsoon will prevail over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

Flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. weather bulletin.

The northeast monsoon will also cause isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

No weather disturbance is expected to develop or affect the country until the weekend, said PAGASA forecaster Benison Estareja.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over northern and southern Luzon, and the eastern section of the Visayas, central and southern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
