CEBU CITY –Police Regional Office 7 (Central Visayas) Chief Roque Eduardo Vega on Friday warned police personnel found violating the directives on TikTok that they would face sanctions.

Vega issued the warning to reiterate his position on police officers using and posting TikTok videos while in their uniform and on duty, citing the directive issued by the Philippine National Police (PNP) against posting short videos on this social media.

“As police officers, we follow orders and directives. The PNP emphasizes the projection of a good image by wearing a proper uniform during the performance of (their) duty,” he said in a statement released Friday night.

Vega’s statement came as a cop assigned to the Lanao Sur Police is facing a pre-charge investigation for violating the directive against TikTok.

PNP Officer in Charge, Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., ordered an investigation on Patrolman Algabid Said Marohomsalic after a short video of him in his uniform and doing funny acts went viral on social media.

Vega urged cops to respect their uniform.

“The uniform symbolizes pride, respect, and authority. It projects a positive and professional image vital to us police officers in front-line units and operations and to the public we serve and protect,” he said.

Cebu provincial police chief Engelbert Soriano echoed Vega’s directive, discouraging cops from doing any act that tends to destroy the image of the police force. (PNA)
