LPA brings rain in Mindanao; fair weather seen in rest of PH

MANILA – The low pressure area (LPA) will continue to bring rains over Mindanao, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

"The LPA is almost stationary and is still near Mindanao. It was last tracked 230 kilometers east southeast of General Santos City," Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The LPA, embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao, will continue to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga, Davao, and Soccsksargen regions.

It has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

PAGASA forecasts flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will continue to prevail over Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to the frontal system.

Aurelio said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have fair weather with isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Tuguegarao may reach up to 36 °C temperature and 34 °C in Metro Manila and Zamboanga.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas also continue to prevail over extreme northern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
