44% of Davao Region low-income families receive DSWD emergency subsidy

DAVAO CITY– As of to date, 421,179 family beneficiaries who belong to the poor and informal sectors in the region have received the emergency subsidy worth P6,000.00 under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Of this number, 253,992 are Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) family beneficiaries and 167,187 are non-4Ps family beneficiaries whose actual paid-out amount is now P2,184,184,800.00.

This is 44% of the 951,459 target beneficiaries who will receive the emergency subsidy in Davao Region.

Of the 48 local government units, only the municipalities of Sulop in Davao del Sur and Tarragona in Davao Oriental have accomplished 100% payout to 4,339 and 1,710 non-4Ps beneficiaries respectively.

Among the top performing municipalities in the distribution of the emergency subsidy are Kiblawan (99.91%) and Matanao (99.26%) in Davao del Sur, Nabunturan in Davao de Oro (99.51%), and Boston in Davao Oriental (92.50%).

“We are always grateful for the support of the local government units (LGUs) in the implementation of the program because we acknowledge that the Department cannot do this alone,” OIC-Regional Director Grace Q. Subong said.

The national government agencies work closely together with the LGUs in implementing the various social amelioration programs for the affected families in areas under community quarantine. ###
