DAVAO DEL NORTE, April 26 (PIA) - The province of Davao del Norte was supposed to be shifting to modified community quarantine (MCQ) starting April 27 but it later restored the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) status following national order.
On Friday evening (April 24), Provincial Governor Edwin I. Jubahib restored the ECQ and revoked the earlier issued Executive Order (EO) No. 33 placing the entire Davao del Norte except for the Island Garden City of Samal on MCQ, by issuing EO No. 34 which also sets the extension of “ECQ in the entire province until May 15”.
The decision to shift to MCQ was an offshoot to a consultative meeting with fellow governors of the provinces of Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental. Jubahib also had a meeting on Thursday (April 23) with city and municipal mayors of the province regarding the shift to MCQ.
But on April 24, Friday morning, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendation of the National Task Force on COVID-19 extending the ECQ in vulnerable areas including Davao del Norte and Davao City in Davao Region.
In his message to residents of Davao del Norte, Jubahib gave his all out support for the national government and to President Duterte, thereby revoking his EO on MCQ and extending the ECQ and in effect, restoring all the policies set in ECQ
“Kita nagatuo nga ang mga lakang sa atong Presidente alang gayud sa kaayohan sa kinatibuk-ang katawhang Pilipino. (We believe that the move of the President is for the welfare of the Filipino people),” he said.
He appealed to all Dabaonons to abide by the set ECQ measures while assuring the people of government support as everyone remains locked in home quarantine
“Ako, kauban ang mga elected officials, ang Philippine National Police ug Philippine Army, muhatod sa mga ayuda dinha mismo sa inyong mga barangay.(with the elected officials , the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army, I will bring the government assistance right in your barangay),” he said in his public message
Jubahib with his fellow local government officials of Davao del Norte have been in stride to fast-tract delivery of food assistance. Now on second round of the provincial food distribution sortie, Jubahib over this weekend hauled food packs to barangays in the Municipality of Carmen. (PIA XI/ Jeanevive Duron Abangan)
