CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, May 5 (PIA) --The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region IV-A is now spearheading the preparation of the COVID-19 Rehabilitation and Recovery Program (RRP) for CALABARZON region, as the Vice-Chair of the Committee on Recovery and Rehabilitation of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC).
At the national level, the Interagency Task Force Technical Working Group on Anticipatory and Forward Planning (AFP), chaired by NEDA, prepared a Recovery Plan that aims to mitigate losses and damages and adapt to the “new normal”. To complement this Plan, CALABARZON is preparing the RRP to address the socioeconomic impacts of the COVID -19 pandemic and to build forward better.
The CALABARZON RRP for COVID -19 is anchored on the long-term goal of safer, adaptive and disaster resilient Filipino communities that are protected from risks and can cope with and recover quickly from emerging and infectious disease outbreaks. Its medium-term goal is to restore socioeconomic conditions in CALABARZON with higher resilience to health emergencies.
A major component of the plan is the investment requirements of programs and projects of national and regional line agencies as well as provincial governments from 2020 to 2022. The plan has five major sectors which are health, social (including social protection and education), economic, peace and security, and governance.
Virtual planning committee workshops will be conducted on May 5 to 8 to validate sectoral goals and objectives, strategies, programs and projects, key implementing agencies, and possible implementation issues and recommendations. NEDA is requesting the support of regional stakeholders in the crafting of the plan so that it can be approved by the RDRRMC by the end of May/June 2020. (PIA 4A/NEDA CALABARZON)
