Caloocan’s Barangay 12 placed under 1-week hard lockdown starting tonight

CALOOCAN CITY, May 17 (PIA) -- The Caloocan City Government has placed Barangay 12 in Dagat-dagatan under a 7-day total lockdown starting 8 p.m. tonight following a surge of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the area.

The Public Information Office said Barangay 12 will be closed beginning 8:00 p.m. of May 17, until 11:59 p.m. of May 23 to minimize virus transmission.

As of Saturday, May 16, the Caloocan City Health Department (CHD) recorded a total of 27 cases of COVID-19 in Barangay 12.

No one will be permitted to leave their house unless during an emergency. While food packs will be provided to residents. The need to buy other essential goods outside of residence will be taken care of by barangay officials and employees.

During the hard lockdown, the CHD will be conducting COVID-19 targeted testing and contact tracing among residents.

To ensure public safety and strict compliance to the directive of the local government, officers from the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be deployed to man the checkpoints and other strategic areas.

The city has so far, 332 confirmed cases of the disease including 25 deaths and 85 recoveries. (PIA NCR)
