NQC invites artists to join the Quincentennial Art Competition

PARANAQUE CITY, May 28 (PIA) -- The National Quincentennial Committee (NQC)   calls on artists to be a part of history and join the Quincentennial Art Competition in preparation for the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines.

The art centered competition in partnership with the National Historical Commission   of the Philippines (NHCP) and National Committee on Art Gallery of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) aims to involve the country’s robust artistic community in commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan, and the Philippine part in the historical first circumnavigation of the world.

The contest is open to Philippine based Filipino Citizen, age 18 and above.

It has four (4) categories centering on Legacy, Magnanimity, Sovereignty, and Unity, which the artists must accurately depict the world, society, and customs of the Filipinos almost 500 years ago.

According to NQC, contest entries will be a part of the quincentennial’s legacy and will provide a fresh take on what happened in 151.

The grand winner for each category will take home P500,000; two consolation prize winners per category will receive P50,000.

Artists must submit their entries at designated drop off points in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on or before August 28, 2020.

Winners will be announced during ManilArt on October 2020.
