LAGUINDINGAN, Misamis Oriental, May 18 (PIA) – Amid the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) here in Northern Mindanao, a total of 10 boxes containing 25,000 facemasks arrived at Laguindingan Airport from the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) of Secretary Martin M. Andanar.
These boxes of facemasks were immediately turned-over to the Philippine Red Cross for distribution to COVID-19 frontliners in Cagayan De Oro City and Misamis Oriental.
“We are thankful to the PCOO for this donation of facemasks. The role of Red Cross here is to facilitate the distribution to the hospitals especially for our frontliners," Jimmy B. Macababat, chapter service representative of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)- Misamis Oriental-Cagayan De Oro Chapter said.
The facemasks could help protect the frontliners against the virus, which may enter through through the mouth, eyes and nose. The frontliners in the hospitals are high-risk to COVID-19.
The recipient-hospitals in Cagayan De Oro are the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other level three frontliner hospitals currently admitting COVID-19 patients.
“The PRC - Misamis Oriental-Cagayan De Oro Chapter still continues providing assistance to the government. We are the auxiliary of the government especially when it comes to programs and activities in relation to the prevention and preparedness for COVID-19," he said. (Vincent Philip S.
