TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, May 15 (PIA) -- Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo spearheaded a consultative meeting on COVID-19 with key officials from the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and Kapatagan Municipal Mayor Barry Y. Baguio on May 13.
The meeting discussed issues concerning measures that the Provincial Government must undertake to protect the safety and health of the general public against the threat of COVID-19.
One important concern raised during the meeting is the coordination between the national line agencies and the local government units, particularly on the issue of returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Governor Dimaporo strongly supported the initiative of the National Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) in repatriating these OFWs back to their respective provinces. However, coordination between the National Government Agencies and the receiving Local Government Units should be established.
The DILG is the one tasked by the IATF to coordinate with the Provincial Chief Executives and the Local Chief Executives regarding the repatriation of the OFWs.
Moreover, some essential trucks carrying passengers that are not employees of the truck company, without medical certificates and acceptance pass, has been caught at the Quarantine Checkpoints, particularly in the Municipality of Linamon.
In strengthening the efforts of the Provincial Government in keeping the people of Lanao del Norte safe, strict implementation of Executive Order 08, Series of 2020, is observed in all the Quarantine Checkpoints-regional and provincial.
Returning residents and students are encouraged to coordinate first with their respective municipalities before traveling back to Lanao del Norte as not to cause delay or experience inconvenience at the Quarantine Checkpoints.
Present at the meeting were 2nd Mechanized Brigade Commander Brigadier General Facundo O. Falapox IV, Col Rolando D. Orengo CAV (GSC), Incoming Commander of the 5th Mechanized Battalion LtCol. Alfonso D. Matias Jr CAV (GSC), LtCol. Domingo G. Dulay Jr (GSC) Commander of the 4th Mechanized Battalion, PNP Provincial Director PCol. Rene Solidarios, and DILG Provincial Director Bruce A. Colao.
Governor Dimaporo was also joined by Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo, the IMT Deputy Responsible Officer and the Provincial Administrator; Lyndon G. Calica, the IMT Incident Commander and the Provincial Information Officer; Dr. Teresa M. Reponte, the IMT Deputy Incident Commander and the Provincial Health Officer, and Lawyer Mark Christopher A.
