PIA-10 director clarifies issue on Andanar’s aid to media workers

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, May 4 (PIA) - As the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) chief has been extending assistance to media workers who, like other sectors, are also affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-10 chief clarified issues from various naysayers on social media.

PIA-10 Regional Director Franklin P. Gumapon said the media practitioners who received rice packs from Secretary Andanar were grateful to the secretary for the assistance in this time of crisis.

He said Andanar had distributed rice packs to media practitioners in the region as his personal gesture of appreciating the media members' work of incessantly delivering news and information amidst threat of COVID-19.

It can be recalled that Andanar shelled out from his own pocket to buy rice packs in five kilos for reporters and writers from the different media outfits in the region.

PIA-10 assisted in the distribution of these rice packs based on the lst of legitimate media practitioners in the region.

Gumapon said “Sec. Martin Andanar doesn't intend to gain praises from other people but he's heart is with the people of this country especially to the mediamen.". (SMRN/PIA MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL)
