DAR-Eastern Samar distributes relief goods to ARBs

BORONGAN CITY, June 3 (PIA) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Eastern Samar distributed relief goods to some 1,454 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) throughout the province.

According to Engr. Gilberto A. Apilado, provincial agrarian reform program officer (PARPO), the provision of relief goods to ARBs is a nationwide activity in response to the directive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to all national agencies to pursue relief operations vigorously to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added that the relief goods worth P500 contained 4 kilos rice, 6 cans sardines, 12 packs noodles, and 6 pieces bath soap.

Mr. Celso A. Cidro, senior agrarian reform program technologist said the distribution covered Borongan City, San-Julian, Sulat, Taft, Arteche , San-Policarpo, Oras, Dolores, and Can-avid to the north.

In the southern part, ARBs from Maydolong, Balangkayan, Llorente, Hernani, Gen. Mac-Arthur, Salcedo, Quinapondan, Balangiga, and Lawa-an got relief goods too.

Ms. Linda Bangcaray, secretary of Malogo Farmers and Irrigators Association in Can-avid, E. Samar thanked the DAR for the provisions.

"Damo nala ini nga kadimalasan, yadi in COVID-19 nga nagpupugong hit at mga buruhaton, tapos binagyo pa, salamat nala han DAR hini nga hinabang." (We are almost cursed, with the COVID-19 and the recent typhoon, thanks to DAR for the aid).

The food packs were purchased and repacked by the DAR-Provincial Office and delivered to the Municipal Agrarian Reform Officers for the ARBs. The relief operation was conducted from May 25 to May 29, 2020. (nbq/SDC/PIA-E. Samar)
