DAVAO CITY, June 1 (PIA) – As the schedule of bus trips have resumed at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT), individuals who wish to travel around the Davao Region have flocked to the said terminal.
With the huge volume of passengers, DCOTT Management has ensured that specific health safety measures are in place to help in containing the possible spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The Manager for DCOTT Aisa Yusop detailed at the recent virtual presser of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA XI) the steps that were taken to prepare for the huge volume of travelers while also maintaining proper hygiene that is in-line with the ‘new normal’.
“Prior to entry, each passenger is required to wear a face mask and once the passengers have entered the DCOTT passenger entrance, they will be required to wash their hands at our designated handwashing areas. Upon entry, the passengers can then sanitize their hands at our hand sanitation areas,” Usop said.
At present, the DCOTT can only accommodate 28 passengers per bus route because of the limited schedule of daily trips in different routes within Region XI. Due to the limited number of passengers, travelers flock at the terminal as early as 6:00 AM to avail of the limited daily schedule of bus routes.
Passengers who were not accommodated in the trip last Monday were assured of priority seats the next day.
Social distancing is also strictly being maintained within the terminal premises to avoid the risk of infection and mandatory checking of body temperatures to entering passengers is being observed by Task Force Davao.
“As the passengers have their bags checked, the Task Force Davao (TF Davao) personnel will check the temperatures of each passenger and upon entry within the grounds of the DCOTT each person waiting for their bus will be seated at designated seats to maintain proper social distancing,” Yusop said.
