KALIBO, Aklan, July 1 (PIA) -- Fastfood chains and restaurants must follow health and safety protocols, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), based on the agency’s Memorandum Circular 20-37.
Per this memorandum circular, restaurants and fastfood chains in areas under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) are allowed to have dine-in customers but must implement limitations.
Limitations and health protocols, according to DTI-Aklan Provincial Director Ma. Carmen Iturralde include observing a one meter physical or social distancing among customers, placing foot baths, and making available to customers alcohol and hand sanitizers inside the establishments.
The guidelines, according to Iturralde, cover all food establishments including “carinderias.”
The DTI also discourages face-to-face seating arrangements for those who cannot afford to install protective dividers.
These measures are intended for the establishment owners and the clientele to practice the “new normal” set-up as the country continues to fight COVID-19.
According to Iturralde, the DTI could recommend the closure of establishments which refuse to follow the new guidelines. (JSC/VGV/PIA6 Aklan)
