Modified Number Coding scheme starts June 8 in Metro Manila

PASIG CITY, June 5 (PIA) – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday said they will start implementing the

modified number coding scheme on Monday, June 8 in Metro Manila which is under the general community quarantine (GCQ) amid the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In an advisory, the MMDA said exemptions from the number coding scheme are provided under the MMDA Regulation 2020-001, series of 2020.

Private vehicles, with two or more passengers including the driver, physical distancing strictly observed, and all passengers wearing face masks are exempted.

Likewise, owner-driven or self-driven private motor vehicles of doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel are also exempted from the modified number coding scheme are also exempted.

The MMDA added that all Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR), as specified on the latest guidelines of the IATF, are also exempted.

TNVS operators are also required to put a signage on their vehicles for easy recognition.

The regulation was unanimously approved by the Metro Manila Council (MMC) which is composed of the 17 mayors of Metro Manila during the MMC video meeting held last May 26, 2020. (MMDA/PIA-NCR)
