Social pension payout in WV almost complete

ILOILO CITY, July 1 (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 6 has almost completed the payout of the first semester social pension of qualified indigent senior citizens in Western Visayas.  

In its virtual presser, June 29, DSWD 6 Technical Assistance and Resource Augmentation program Focal Person Rayner Jude Lobaton reported that 357,461 or 98 percent of the 365,908 target social pensioners in the region were already provided with their stipend,

He said a total of P1,072,383,000.00 has been disbursed for the first semester for the social pension of the qualified indigent older persons who each received P3,000 for their January to June, 2020 pension.  

Under the government’s Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens program, each qualified senior citizen gets P500 monthly pension to augment daily subsistence and other medical needs.

Lobaton said they have also finished the distribution of the unpaid cash stipend for last year.

As of June 28, 2020, DSWD 6 has already released P2,185,272,000.00 in social pension of 2019, he said. (JSC/laf/PIA6 Iloilo)
