200 new police officers for Cordillera take oath

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, July 3(PIA) -- The Police Regional Office – Cordillera welcomed 200 new police officers to the Philippine National Police on Wednesday(July 1).
 
PRO-Cor Regional Director PBGen. R’win Pagkalinawan led the oathtaking of the 200 newly appointed Patrolmen and Patrolwomen in the Cordillera in a simple ceremony at the Camp Bado Dangwa here.
 
The new police officers are composed of 170 males and 30 females who are part of the PRO-Cor Regular Recruitment Program quota for 2020.
 
Pagkalinawan urged the new recruits to stay disciplined as they enter the “new normal.” He also called on them to be the officers that the public demand and expect them to be in fighting against all forms of criminalities.
 
“You are just in time as we are gaining ground in our fight against all forms of criminalities, not to mention this pandemic and the soon to be new normal. You must be a good example and not be the “scalawags” who are being hunted down. Endeavor to do the right thing under every circumstance because only in this way that you will be able to provide the level of service the community deserves and to really begin the work of making a difference in the lives of others” Pagkalinawan said.
 
The new recruits will now be turned over to the Cordillera Administrative Region Training School where they will undergo the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course for six months at the Teachers Camp in Baguio City. It would be followed by another six months of field training program which will qualify them for permanency.
 
During the oathtaking ceremony, the new recruits received their Automated Teller Machine cards from the Landbank of the Philippines where they will receive their salaries as patrolmen and patrolwomen.
 They will receive a basic monthly salary of P29, 668, aside from allowances and other non-cash benefits.
 
The new police officers will fill up the vacant slots as a result of the death, dismissal, and retirement of personnel assigned within the Cordillera region. (JDP/RMC-PIA CAR)
