TUBAO, La Union, July 5 (PIA) – The municipality of Tubao recorded its first coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case on Saturday, July 4 after a 35-year-old male seafarer from Purok 1b of Amallapay village tested positive of the virus.
This was confirmed in an official statement of Mayor Jonalyn Piayas posted in the town’s official Facebook page.
Said patient has travel history in the National Capital Region.
Piayas in her statement said, “He had been here in Tubao since February 2020. On June 24, he travelled to Metro Manila for a medical examination.”
On July 1, he had undergone the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test and his confirmatory result was released on July 4.
He is asymptomatic, and is currently confined at the La Union Medical Center in Agoo town.
With this, said portion of Amallapay village was immediately placed under total lockdown through the issuance of Executive Order (EO) No. 2020-47.
Residents are mandated to stay at home, and only authorized persons outside residence are exempted.
This EO also orders the activation of the municipal contact tracing team which to date, had already identified the details of the patient's activity for the past days.
“All those who were in close contact with him are directed to coordinate with proper authorities,” the local chief executive stated.
Liquor ban is likewise strictly imposed in the area during the duration of the lockdown. (JCR/AMB/CGRC/PIA La Union)
