PARAÑAQUE CITY, July 30 (PIA) -- The Philippine Embassy in Seoul, South Korea on Wednesday reported 78 Filipinos, so far, testing positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) based on the data from the country’s local authorities, along with the Filipino community.
During his Laging Handa Public Briefing interview, Charge D'affaires Christian De Jesus said 34 out of 78 Filipinos who has been diagnosed with the disease has been discharged, with the remaining 44 Filipinos still undergoing treatment.
“Out of 78, 34 ay discharged dahil po sa magandang medical care na libre na binibigay ng pamahalaan. At doon sa nalalabi na 44 na under treatment po ngayon, sila ay nasa government medical facilities and health institutions,” De Jesus said.
The Philippine envoy added that South Korea has controlled the 2nd wave of the virus as most COVID-19 cases are imported cases and not through local transmission.
“Masasabi pong na control po yan, ang sitwasyon po ngayon sa Korea, ang cases po na tinatala araw-araw ay karamihan po na tinatawag na imported cases, hindi po siya local transmission,” he added.
According to De Jesus, South Korean Government utilize modern technology for its contact tracing. As most cases are from abroad, those who are entering the country must download a mobile application designed to monitor temperature, symptoms, and location.
He said due to the measures that have been implemented in the country, the South Korean Government will slowly allow religious and sporting events starting July 31, 2020. (PIA-NCR)
