BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, July 3  (PIA) - - Police Brigadier General Angelito Casimiro reminisces his teenaged years climbing the Mt. Palali in this town hoping to see the seas that he thought and dreamed could be visible on top of the mountain.

This childhood memory is still in tact as he struggled to fulfill his dream to become a pride of the province, being one of the successful professionals who made their mark in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

But recently, he fulfilled his childhood dream via a chopper in a mission to provide assistance to his men in the coastal towns of Isabela and Batanes.

"I was hovering above you bound for the coastal towns of Isabela, Batanes and Nueva Vizcaya even during weekends to deliver the equipment and facilities needed by our policemen to improve their capability through hell or high waters," he said.

The regional director said the move was meant to prepare policemen for the coming rainy season brought by upcoming typhoons.

Equipment and facilities given were satellite phones and generators, among others.

"In this way, they can communicate with them even without power in their areas. We can respond for their needs during worst situations," Casimiro said.

He said that based on their gathered information, Nueva Vizcaya is on the list as one of the tagged provinces expected to suffer lengthy rainfall due to La Niña phenomenon.

Casimiro, a native of Bayombong, is now bound for promotion as one fo the directorial staff at Camp Crame.

"I am very thankful and grateful for the support and assistance given to the PNP by various sectors of our society. I hope that my term left a legacy for our fellow Novo Vizcayanos and other provinces," he said.

Serving as the regional director for the PNP Cagayan Valley since after the first semester last year was a big challenge for Casimiro wih the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Few months upon his assumption, he vowed to cleanse the ranks of the PNP and he succeeded by bringing unfit and scalawag cops into facing charges by the PNP and other courts.

PNP Cagayan Valley also fared very well in the periodic assesment and evaluation of PNP performance in the country.

In February this year, he announced the proposed construction of a Standard Type PNP Building within the Police Provincial Office (PPO) in Bayombong town through the PNP-DPWH Convergence Program.

Governor Carlos Padilla, who was then the guest speaker of the activation of the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Mobile Group and turn-over of armaments, facilities and equipment to the PNP, vowed his support for the construction of a covered court inisde the PNP compound.

Casimiro said he was one of the PNP delegations who traveled to Israel to see the quality and standards of the new facilities and equipment recently purchased by their agency.

Recently, these partnership and promises were fulfilled with the turn-over of a P2.5 million check to Casimiro by Padilla with the ground breaking program for the proposed covered court.

On that same day, the more tham P23.6 million new PNP Standard Building was also inaugurated within the PPO.

Another standard building is also being constructed in Cagayan province, according to Casimiro.

"I hope these accomplishments and blessings will continue. Please do not forget us when you will be in paradise," Padilla told Casimiro during the proposed covered court groundbreaking.

Casimiro, on the other hand, said a tactical vehicle is also on the way for the province to boost the capability of the PNP in its peace and order and internal security activities and services.

He vowed to look further for the welfare of Cagayan Valley region, particularly Nueva Vizcaya once he assumes the position as one of the directorial staff at Camp Crame.

Casimiro said his short stint in the region was also productive because of the major implementation of PNP-DPWH Convergence Program and the PNP Modernization Program.

"I will still look after the welfare of Cagayan Valley and Nueva Vizcaya in particular since my heart belongs here and I am very thankful and grateful for the support and assistance of our various sectors," he added. (ALM/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
