PARAÑAQUE CITY, July 6 (PIA) -- The City Government of Taguig has designated “exercise safe zones” all over the city where residents can do their fitness activities while following the government’s health and safety protocols.

The local government decided to establish the exercise safe zones after reports  involving some citizens, runners, and bikers failed to comply with health and safety protocols reached his office.

According to Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano, the safe zones will allow balance between people’s need to be fit, and the health and safety guidelines set by the Department of Health (DOH) to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

On Saturday, July 4, a team stationed at the Heritage Memorial Park started monitoring the bikers and runners in the area. The team distributed free face-masks and drinks to citizens who were out to exercise.

Bayani Road in the Heritage Memorial Park, Taguig Lakeshore complex, and the 3.5-kilometer C6 Bike Lane in Brgy. Lower Bicutan was designated as some of the exercise safe zones in Taguig.

The city will set up stations for regular monitoring, bike repair and help desks at the designated safe zones.

“We encourage the private sector to collaborate with the government so that, together, we can ensure that citizens are protected from COVID-19,” said Mayor Lino Cayetano. “In the new normal, it is important that our people understand that the disease remains a threat. We must all work together.” (Taguig PIO/PIA-NCR)
