26 Isabeleños tested positive for COVID-19

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Aug. 6 (PIA) - - The Department of Health (DOH) here confirmed 26 cases of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), today, all from the province of Isabela.

Regional Director Rio L. Magpantay said five of the cases are from the City of Ilagan, followed by four cases each in Tumauini and Cauayan City, two cases each in Angadanan, Cabatuan, Cordon, Echague, and San Mariano, while  Cabagan, Gamu and Jones towns also have one case each.

He said that of the 26 cases, 14 are males and 12 are females, including an 8 month-old baby.

Magpantay added that 13 patients have travel histories in areas with local transmission, seven are Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) while six, including a health worker, have no travel histories but possibly with exposure to COVID-19 carriers.

"Contact tracing is now being undertaken by local officials from the affected areas," Magpantay said.

On the other hand, Magpantay clarified that Quirino and Batanes provinces are still COVID-19-free, dismissing report from a television network that there are already positive cases in Quirino province.

He stressed that there were no recorded positive COVID-19 cases yet in the said province, but only suspected cases and persons under monitoring. (PUIs). (BME/OTB/PIA-Cagayan)
