4Ps benefs benefit from SK's 'Home eSKwelantine'

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Aug. 25 (PIA) - - - A Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiary and Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson of barangay Sta. Catalina in City of Ilagan, Isabela extended help to his fellow beneficiaries and schoolchildren aged 4 to 6 years old.

Dubbed as Home eSKwelantine, the SK Sta. Catalina council headed by Melvin P. Adurable initiated the project to teach 4Ps beneficiaries under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and other schoolchildren aged 4 to 6 years old in their barangay.

During the Network Briefing episode today hosted by Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, Adurable said the project also aimed at encouraging the beneficiaries to still allot time to study despite quarantine instead of having longer screen time using their gadgets and watching TV.

Adurable said thru the project, beneficiaries were taught on basic lessons and given school supplies and worksheets for them to work on while at homes.

"Ang Sangguniang Kabataan kasama ang mga sponsor at youth volunteers ay naglunsad ng programang magbibigay talino at kaalaman sa bawat batang pantawid at batang may 4-6 na taong gulang sa kanilang tahanan,” said Pacurable.

Council officials visit personally the beneficiaries in a house-to-house scheme complying to the IATF guidelines that individuals below 21 years old are not still allowed to go out from their homes.

“Though we recognize the importance of education, the safety of our beneficiaries is our priority. We don’t just to impart additional knowledge to them but we ensure also the safety of every child-beneficiary,” added Adurabele.

During house-to-house visits, SK officials ensure that minimum health standards such as wearing of face masks is strictly observed.

The project is one among the series of activities the council has initiated thru its Project Kakampi which is centered on Covid-19 response and assistance program activities for youth and vulnerable sectors in the community.

Recently, their projects were one of the finalists under the National Youth Commission and Ang Probinsiyano Partylist Search for "Most Outstanding SK COVID-19 Response Video Report Contest". (MDCT/PIA-2)
