Aklan's 16 towns put up Ligtas COVID Centers

KALIBO, Aklan, Aug.  23 (PIA) – The province of Aklan and its 16 towns have put up their respective Ligtas COVID Center (LCC) as part of  each local government’s efforts to strengthen  their response against the coronavirus pandemic.

The LCC is a community-managed facility within a barangay, municipality, city or province which aims to streamline the identification, admission, and management of contacts, suspected, probable, and confirmed cases of COVID-19 with mild symptoms who are not vulnerable persons, in households and communities. 

Also, as a preparation for the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the community-managed facility could help decongest hospitals as each local government unit is empowered to deal with mild Covid-19 cases.

Based on the report of the Provincial Health Office here, all of the established and identified Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for COVID-19 cases centers of the LGUs were certified and had undergone assessment and capacity enhancement based on the Provincial Assessment Tool for Ligtas COVID Center.

The Aklan Training Center located in Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan is the identified Provincial Isolation for COVID-19 of the province.

As announced by Aklan Governor Florencio T. Miraflores, the said facility has 56 rooms.

The ATC also serves as the provincial temporary holding area for returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs), wherein the profiling and assessment of all ROFs are being conducted prior of their transfer to their respective municipalities.

For the municipal level, the Kalibo Ati-Atihan County Inn  is the registered LCC of the capital town Kalibo; while  the  isolation facility of Malay is the S & E Hotel; and Ibajay  is at the Gradel’s Place

The Discover Boracay Hotel and Spa is the identified LCC of Banga, Lezo, Madalag and Tangalan; for New Washington is the Ocean View Resort

Meanwhile, the towns of Buruanga, Makato, Malinao,  Nabas, and Numancia are at the Tatay Ugoy’s Resto Place, Makato Hospital, Malinao People’s Center,  Margonz Hotel, and Casa Loreta, respectively.

For Batan , the LCC is at the Casa Del Mar; Libacao at Ciajela Building and for Altavas is located at the Altavas Transport Terminal

The Ati-Atihan Festival Hostel in Kalibo is being used as the housing facilitiy for the frontliners especially of the nurses and doctors who are serving at the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital, the identified medical facility dedicated for coronavirus patients in Aklan. (LTP/SQP/PIA Aklan)
