DSWD-10 turns-over 3 tribal halls in Tudela

TUDELA, Misamis Occidental, Aug. 31 (PIA)—The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-10 thru Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) in Tudela, here, successfully turned over three tribal halls to Subanen communities in Barangay Mitugas, Buenavista and Gala, which form part of Tudela's geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).

Each project received P840,000 community grant under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) program of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP) in collaboration with DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS.

Tudela Mayor Samuel Parojinog underscored the excellent implementation of Kalahi- CIDSSsub-projects in his municipality, citing the efficient allocation of funds and the quality of the projects undertaken.

He applauded the Community-Driven Development (CDD) strategy of the Kalahi-CIDSS in reaching out to IP members of the community in empowering them to take control over their decisions and resources through the CDD process.

Meanwhile, DSWD RegionalDirector Mari-Flor Dollaga-Libang personally attended one of the turn over activities, particularly in Barangay Buenavista, and expressed her joy for the progress involving the IPs in Tudela.

The establishment of  tribal halls in Tudela are avenues to promote peace and development, with the aim to strengthen their unique identity as Ips.

The Subanens have been yearning to have their own place of meeting, which is now finally granted through the project. (DSWD10/PIA Misamis Occidental)
