Estehanons to benefit from improved health care systems

BORONGAN CITY, Aug. 1 (PIA) — Estehanons will soon reap the benefits of an improved health care system in government hospitals in the province. In a press conference on July 31 with Dr. Jessica Sabalberino, chief of hospital, she said that their wish to fully equip the hospital with top-of-the line facilities is happening.

New pieces of medical equipment have arrived at the hospital, though it will be fully functional when the rehabilitation of the electricity wirings are done, said Sabalberino.

The different pieces of medical equipment were purchased through the Bayanihan Grant extended to the province to cope with the onslaught of COVOD-19, said the doctor. "The governor gave us the fund and we decided to purchase the equipment needed most," she told reporters.

The hospital purchased mechanical ventilators, cardiac monitors, defibrillators, filmless X-ray machines, hospital beds, oxygen regulators, air coolers and many more.

The chief of hospital also said that part of the second floor is being converted into COVID wards. "That is to answer the possible surge of COVID-19 patients in our province."

In addition, Sabalberino said that the hospital is also constructing a P1-M Blood Center in the hospital complex along with a P 5-M Radiology Building which will focus on x-rays, ultrasound, and CT-scan.

There will also be an ICU room with four beds with all the needed medical equipment like mechanical ventilators, cardiac monitors, defibrillators and ECG.

"ICU is necessary in the province because being a level 2 hospital, we need an ICU. This is a priority project of the Governor.

" Presently though, the physician noted a decline in the number of patients being admitted at the ESPH. She said that previously their 100-hospital bed capacity would accommodate some 139 patients, but presently, only 75-85 percent beds are occupied.

She then called on to Estehanons not to be afraid of being admitted as health protocols are strictly observed and COVID -19 patients have their own facility.

Other district and community hospitals all over Eastern Samar will also be equipped with medical equipment needed for healthier Estehanons.

"ESPH is prepared, the public should not fear, just observe proper health protocol lke wearing of mask, frequent handwashing, sanitizing and observing social distance."

"Treat everyone as carrier of the virus, please stay at home if you can." Above all the physician urged everyone to pray! (nbq/PIA Eastern Samar)
