Fitness program in Davao City launched

DAVAO City August 4, 2020 (PIA) - The City Government of Davao has introduced “Aktibo Davaoeno,” a virtual online health and fitness activity that is free and is designed to keep Davaoenos fit amid the pandemic.

Mikey Aportadera, city sport coordinator observed many residents turned fat, due to the compliance of the call to stay home and safe with the family.

He said people have to adjust to the new normal by submitting to the “Aktibo Davaoeno Program which contains exercise regimen, and teaches people how to stretch and eat properly.

Aportadera bared that the “Aktibo Davaoeno,” airs once a week through the “B’yaheng Duterte Program.”

He noticed that many residents become less health nowadays because of the convenience of ordering food deliveries, and oil-based food.

Aportadera said the show only has three minute-window in the TV show but can be downloaded on the FB page of the Davao City government.

“We want all the residents to become active now,” he said.

Aportadera said it is as good as saying bringing the exercise right at your own sala.

He explained the exercises are handled by professional guests, with programs that can fit in to the people’s lifestyle.

“It is because everything you have at home can be used as gadget.”

Aportadera clarified that the “Aktibo Davaoeno,” is not a strenuous exercise at all since they want all ages to enjoy it.

He stressed safety measures must be adopted by everyone to ensure the precision and execution of the exercise.

Aportadera said it has been the policy of the city for gyms to have distancing marks, directional signs, disinfection, and alcohol stations to ensure the safety of clients.  (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
