CATARMAN, Northern Samar, Aug. 31 (PIA) -- As COVID-19 contagion threatens the town of Allen, the Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force (MIATF) and Municipal Task Force (MTF) headed by Mayor Joey Suan conduct intensive contact tracing, COVID testing and isolation of probable cases to contain further spread of the disease.
This was learned from Allen Berbon, Provincial Information Officer of LGU Northern Samar.
As of August 29, Mayor Suan reported to have traced all contacts of their confirmed cases, a total of 365. All of them were ordered to observe strict home quarantine, including contacts of probable cases, until September 3, 2020.
“For easy identification, the doors of their homes were tagged with yellow ribbons and no one is allowed to go out. The LGU sent food packs as assistance to those under quarantine. Close contacts have been swabbed and tested, and most turned negative of COVID-19,” said, Mayor Suan.
Municipal councilors and barangay chairmen who may have been exposed to the Allen confirmed case on August 17, were also ordered to observe strict quarantine.
Though confined physically in one place, Mayor Suan assured the community that they will continue working while under quarantine so as not to hamper the delivery of public services.
Moreover, a 24-hour curfew is also enforced among senior citizens and minors 21 years old and below. Checkpoints and mobile patrols are also being implemented to ensure compliance to community quarantine guidelines.
“In many directives and advisories, these combined strategies are seen to be effective in containing the spread of COVID-19. With the steadfast resolve of our local leaders, the untiring service of our frontliners and the cooperation of the community, the challenge posed by COVID-19 can be beaten,” Berbon said.
