PASIG CITY, Aug. 31 (PIA) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is warning the public anew against a scam circulating through text messages.
In an advisory, the DTI warned that the text scam is relative to sim numbers being selected and winning prizes from the "Villar Foundation Handog Pangkabuhayan Program.
The messages reportedly advise the public to call a certain number claiming to be that of DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, the DTI added.
The DTI advised the recipients of such messages to avoid replying to the sender, and instead, to just ignore the message, block the number, and file a complaint to the National Telecommnunications Commission (NTC) through its website www.bit.ly/NTCComplaints to alert the government agency of such SMS scam.
To help the public determine whether the message received is a text scam, the DTI said legitimate promos use only three or four-digit mobile number instead of an 11-digit mobile number.
