ILOILO CITY, Sept. 1 (PIA) - - The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) is eyeing to establish soon two more Malasakit Centers in the city and province of Iloilo.
During his trip to Iloilo City on August 26, OPAV Secretary Michael Dino announced the establishment of the Malasakit Centers in West Visayas State University and in Iloilo Provincial Hospital, according to OPAV Asec. Jonji Gonzales at the August 31 Laging Handa Network Briefing hosted by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.
“Ito Sec. Martin, i-push ni Sec. Mike Dino sa Office of the President and of course, he will also ask the support of Senator Bong Go who is really with the Malasakit Center project, talaga sa kanya ‘to Sec. Martin at hihingi sya ng tulong na mangyari ito kaagad,” said Gonzales.
Senator Go is the author of Republic Act 11463 that mandates the establishment of Malasakit Centers in all hospitals run by the Department of Health (DOH) in the country.
In June 20, 2018, Go and Dino also led the launching of the first Malasakit Center in this city housed at the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district.
Gonzales said Dino also promised to provide the request of Iloilo City Mayor Jerry TreƱas for around 50 hospital beds which will be used for the city’s step-down care facility.
Likewise, he said Dino helps ensure that PhilHealth and private hospitals concerns on unpaid claims in the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod will be resolved soon.
“Sec. Dino is also working with PhilHealth na yong mga concerns ng Iloilo ang Bacolod hospitals na maresolve yong unpaid Philhealth claims even sa Philhealth claims ng LGUs, and hopefully, ito ay maresolve kaagad, Sec. Martin,” said Gonzales.
Dino was with Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, the chief implementer of the IATF For the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases in the Visayas, and Retired Major General Melquiades Feliciano, IATF-Visayas Deputy Chief Implementer, during the trip on August 26 purposely, to help the city and province of Iloilo in their fight against COVID 19.
Gonzales said Feliciano will be staying in the cities of Bacolod and Iloilo for three weeks starting September 1 to help institutionalize the Emergency Operation Centers in these cities upon the request of Dino.
“Si General Mel ay nag-institutionalize ng EOC or Emergency Operation Center sa Cebu City and we are very happy to note Sec. Martin na its already three or four weeks since nag-GCQ ang Cebu City at hindi na tumaas yong kaso dito and sa Central Visayas hindi na mataas yong kaso kaya nga humingi ng tulong si Sec. Mike Dino na pumunta muna si General Mel doon sa Bacolod at Iloilo para matulungan din yong probinsya ng Negros Occidental at Iloilo,” said Gonzales. (JSC/laf/PIA6 Iloilo)
