QUEZON CITY, Aug. 8 (PIA) – In celebration of ASEAN Month this August, the Philippines launched Sama-Sama ASEAN: We Are One, a webinar series on ASEAN awareness and identity in celebration of via Zoom Thursday

The four-part online series’ topics focused on education, culture, economy, and the government’s response and strategies in managing the COVID-19 crisis.

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Assistant Secretary Junever M. Mahilum-West  in welcoming participant said that the webinar is a great opportunity to share insights on national and regional situations, responses, and recovery plans as we face the unprecedented challenge of [this pandemic].

In the first episode on August 6, titled “Responding to Educational Disruption and Ensuring Learning Continuity Amid COVID-19,” Undersecretary Jesus Lorenzo R. Mateo, Director Lito Palomar, and Director Ronilda Co from the Department of Education (DepEd) talked about different strategies and modalities undertaken by the education sector to ensure learning continuity amidst the pandemic.

In the following Thursdays, the series shall be focusing on “Building Cultural Solidarity and Voices of Resilience Amid the Pandemic” (August 13), “Navigating Economic Uncertainties Amidst COVID-19” (August 13) and “Government Response and Strategies in Managing the COVID-19 Crisis” (August 27).

The entire series also features “Creative ASEAN Campaign to Break the Chain” project which according to National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA is a “compilation of video performances of traditional/folk/classical dances from the AMS which were especially re-choreographed to campaign for the practice of health and safety protocols like hand washing, wearing of face masks, and social distancing.”

Episodes will be simultaneously live streamed at 10:00am to 12:00nn via Facebook page of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the People’s Television Network (PTV) and DFA.
