MARAWI CITY, Aug. 29 (PIA) - Three religious facilities inside the most affected areas (MAA) of Marawi are set to be rehabilitated soon.
This, after the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) and the city government of Marawi inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with two developers and three contractors for the repair of Masjid Disomangcop, White Mosque, and Masjid Darusalam.
Witnessed by the respective administrators of the three mosques, the MOA signing was held simultaneously in Marawi and Quezon City on Friday, August 28,.
TFBM chairperson Secretary Eduardo del Rosario said Masjid Disomangcop, White Mosque, and Masjid Darusalam are just three of the 30 mosques that will be repaired and rehabilitated by the national government.
In his message during the ceremonial signing of the MOA, he noted the significance of rehabilitating mosques for the Muslim community.
He said it is also an important part of rebuilding Marawi as ordered by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during their meeting on March 2020.
The administrators of the three mosques expressed gratitude to TFBM for finding ways to rehabilitate community facilities in Marawi.
Sultan Maclin Disomangcop Lanto, the administrator of Masjid Disomangcop, said the MOA signing is a testament of the commitment of President Duterte to rebuild Marawi and make it more attractive.
"Maraming salamat sa walang pagod na pagtulong at suporta para sa Marawi," said Masjid Darusalam administrator Yusoph Pangadapun Jr.
For his part, White Mosque's administrator Cabasaran Ali Pacasum Jr. shared how the White Mosque is strategically located as it is near the public market and port. He said the mosque has also been a significant location for warring families to settle disputes and undergo reconciliation.
City Mayor Majul Gandamra also conveyed his appreciation and happiness during the ceremonial MOA signing. He is thankful that aside from the ongoing rehabilitation of major infrastructure projects in Marawi, the national government through the TFBM did not forget the repair of mosques and madrasahs which are important to a Muslim community.
May Rodriguez of Bellavita Land Corporation and Jocelyn Guzman of Property Company of Friends, Inc. said they are happy that they were given the opportunity to contribute to the social development of Marawi. Both companies are developers for the repair of the three mosques.
Meanwhile, Del Rosario gave an assurance that the TFBM will look for other developers and pursue the completion of the 30 mosques.
He further shared that they are now waiting for the finalization of the program design and term of reference for the rehabilitation of the two biggest mosques in Marawi - the Dansalan Bato Ali Mosque and the Grand Mosque.
For the remaining mosques, he said they are now working and finalizing the line up so that it will be completed before December 2021.
"I would like to assure that we will continue our engagement and pursue our commitment to ensure that Marawi will rise again," he added. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
