TACLOBAN CITY, Aug 2 (PIA) -- The Regional Task Force 8 vs COVID-19 reports continues arrival of returning residents in Eastern Visayas.
RTF Chair, OCD-8 Director Lord Byron Torrecarion said that from July 9 to July 30, the RTF8 Emergency Operations Center has recorded some 8,478 returning residents who arrived in Eastern Visayas.
There are two sources of information on the returning residents, Torrecareon said.
One is CAAP for those arriving at the airport and the Philippine Coast Guard for those arriving at the different ports in Eastern Visayas.
Those who arrived via the Tacloban City DZR Airport totals to 5,486 . This number included 1,519 Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs); 3,689 Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs); and 278 Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR).
Meanwhile, those who arrived at the different ports in Region 8 numbers to 2,992 LSIs.
All in all, the number of arriving LSIs in the region from July 9 to July 30 is 6,681.
The LSIs gets the bulk of the returning residents representing 78.8 percent of arrivals.
To recall, the reports from the DOH in Eastern Visayas shows that COVID-19 confirmed positive cases are mostly LSIs. (PIA-8)
