Swab test lab now in transit to Roxas City

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug. 26 (PIA) – A Relocatable, Containerized Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing laboratory has been shipped and will arrive in the city before the end of this month.

This was conveyed by Roxas City mayor Ronnie T. Dadivas in the Aug. 26 episode of the Laging Handa Network Briefing as an update to the local government unit’s mobile lab for swab testing initiative.

“We are now doing the physical preparations and training of medical technologists who will man the laboratory,” Dadivas said in reply to Bombo Radyo Roxas station manager Joele Melvin Estorninos' query about the facility.

The digital media platform program hosted by Presidential Communications Operations (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar taps local media entities as partners who may also ask questions to the show’s guests.

“Looking forward that we can immediately operate with the help of the Department of Health (DOH) especially in its accreditation,” Dadivas noted.

The mobile lab for swab testing is reportedly upon the recommendation of the DOH to the mayor in his effort for the city to obtain its own testing facility.

The laboratory that will be established at the Hortus Botanicus in Barangay Milibili here is part of the P40-million supplemental budget approved by the Roxas City Council last June upon the request of the mayor in view of the city government’s “Test, Trace and Treat” strategy to effectively contain the COVID-19 infection in the city.

It will be capable to test a bigger number of swab samples at a faster pace as results of specimens will be within a matter of hours or within the day once the facility goes into full operation. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
