Roxas City identified for Digital Cities 2025

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug. 26 (PIA) – Roxas City mayor Ronnie Dadivas said that the city’s recognition as Digital Cities 2025 means that the bustling provincial capital belongs to the emerging cities for the Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry.

Talking to Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar in today's Laging Handa Network Briefing program, Dadivas said that the distinction was due to the local government unit’s already in place IT infrastructure, investment incentive package and pool of talents.

“We also have the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA)- approved TechnoPark in Pueblo de Panay and a dynamic Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) Council,” he stressed.

Digital Cities 2025 is a program initiated by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBAP) and LEECHIU Property Consultants.

The initiative aims to build and grow the capability of the countryside for the IT-BPM industry as an engine of growth for the Philippine economy.

Under the program, Roxas City alongside other Digital Cities will undergo a number of interventions for Institutional Development, Infrastructure Development, Talent Attraction as well as Development and Marketing and Promotion.

The Digital Cities will be promoted as viable investment destinations for the IT-BPM industry. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
